Born and bred in the North then matured in London, I have been a Cinematographer and filmmaker since shooting stop-motion dinosaur epics with a VHS camcorder and playdough palm trees on the kitchen table.
In 2011 armed with a masters in cinematography from Goldsmiths College and a promising NAHEMI ‘Best Cinematography’ award for our graduation film I set out to make it official.
Since then I have DoP’d for TV Docs, feature Docs, factual series, branded content and commercials producing work for Netflix, BBC, UKTV, Tencent, Al Jazeera, HBO and National Geographic. Working for production companies such as the Oscar winning Grain Media (8 years in house), Violet Films & Boardwalk Pictures. Primarily shooting documentaries in the UK and internationally in over 30 countries, in both reactive verite and carefully constructed styles.
Thanks to an unmitigated need for self-reliance I am supported by a broad spectrum of filmmaking skills in both production and post-production. I am an intermittent colourist, a sporadic director and an occasional editor.
